ANOTHER HELPER PAGE

Jason Dare found our flyer on the Cuba Hostel during his hiking venture to New Mexico He stayed with us for a week longer than he planned maybe because I was trying to fatten him up. During his stay, he helped renovate skylights, helped put in bedroom windows, organized the recycling program, built a bat house and helped me lay out the yet-to-be-built pumphouse. By this time he is probably getting back home to Wisconsin. A skinny guy is so much fun to cook for! Here he is with the bat house.

Chris Fontaine helped me build the kitchen cabinets. We had hired him to renovate the kitchen at our previous residence and so we hired him again. He will travel and we would recommend him to anyone as an honest, knowledgeable, and conscientious carpenter. He can be reached at 505-877-9284. Doesn't the cabinet look nice?
Katja Lauterstein helped me build the frames for the skylights. Here you see Katja on the left talking to Jerilyn Bowen, John Irick, and Pricilla Remke. They are discussing world history and just about have the whole thing ironed out.

Maggie Dew's picture should be on this page since she helped tear out the walls in the old wing, put up some skylights, and put in the window.

Besides building the Amazing Catdoor, Mike Clifford, my stepfather, helped me with the electrical work. We got the power up and running, finally enabling us to retire the "temporary-construction" electricial service that had been there for 10 years or so. Wow! We are up to code!

Gayle Irick helped us burn all the weeds from around the building in the spring. Her reaction to this place is typical... at first she was shocked by the magnitude of the project, then she felt it was a nice place to be working on something, then after she got something accomplished she felt like she was part of the big story.

Some people should be acknowledged even if their stay didn't turn out the way I had hoped. Charles Lee was hired to be the caretaker before we moved in; he put in a window and tore out the urinals so we could build a shower. His leaving is what precipitated us deciding to just up and move out here. Wendy was here for a few weeks taking care of the animals while I was away last summer. During that time she grouted the tile in the new shower.
